Huawei Ascend P1 launched in the US via Amazon
By Florin on 03 Jan 13Although it was first announced about a year ago, and released in some markets starting the summer of 2012, the Huawei Ascend P1 is only now being launched in the US.
The handset isn’t offered by any carrier Stateside (like it’s happening in Canada), but by Amazon – which is obviously selling it unlocked. To get yourself an Ascend P1, you need to pay $449.99. Sadly, this isn’t the LTE version of the device (introduced by EE at the end of 2012 in the UK).
Of course, you could buy an unlocked quad-core Google LG Nexus 4 (with Android Jelly Bean) for much less: just $299.99. But you’ll have to make do with non-expandable memory in this case.
The Ascend P1 is currently running Android Ice Cream Sandwich, and should be upgraded to Jelly Bean at some point. That aside, the smartphone features a 7.69 mm thin case, 4.3 inch Super AMOLED with 960 x 540 pixels, Dolby Mobile sound, 8MP rear camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera, 1GB of RAM, dual-core 1.5GHz TI OMAP 4460 processor, and a 1,670 mAh battery.
Next week, during CES 2013, Huawei will unveil at least three new devices: the 6 inch Mate phablet, the 5 inch Ascend D2 (which features a full HD screen), and the Windows Phone 8-powered Ascend W1.
