Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for LG Optimus G rolling out in Korea

While it didn’t announce the Optimus G2 at CES 2013 this week, LG has some good news for those who own an Optimus G: an official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for the handset is available in South Korea now. Sure enough, if you have an Optimus G and are based in another country, you’ll have to wait a bit more to get a taste of Jelly Bean – but it probably won’t be long now.

It looks like all three South Korean models of the Optimus G are receiving the update: LG-F180S (for SK Telecom), LG-F180K (for KT), and LG-F180L (for KG U+).

LG Optimus G Android 412 Jelly Bean update Korea

The Optimus G was released by LG in November running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. In the US, it’s available via AT&T and Sprint – and the arrival of Jelly Bean there will obviously depend on how fast the carriers approve the new software.

Introduced as a high-end smartphone last year, the Optimus G has relatively lost this status now in 2013 – with all the Full HD (1080p) handsets announced lately. Still, it’s certainly a nice device, offering a 4.7 inch IPS+ display with 1280 x 768 pixels, 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 13MP rear camera (or 8MP on the AT&T version).
