Android Jelly Bean updates coming soon to LG Optimus 4X HD, L9 and L7
LG has somehow never managed to update its smartphones in a timely manner. But it’s nice to see that some of its older handsets aren’t forgotten. According to LG Hong Kong’s Facebook page, three Optimus smartphones released in 2012 with Android Ice Cream Sandwich on board will be updated to Jelly Bean “in the first half” of this year.
The three handsets are: LG Optimus 4X HD P880, LG Optimus L9, and LG Optimus L7. The L9 and L7 mentioned by LG Hong Kong are Asian versions (model numbers P765 and P705). However, the international versions (P760 and P700) should also be updated at some point.
For the moment, there is no word on what other older LG smartphones will get software updates this year. But we’ll dig for details, and let you know when we have something.
Meanwhile, LG’s Optimus G has already received its Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update – although only in South Korea for now. As for the new Optimus G Pro flagship, this runs Jelly Bean out of the box – the same will happen with the dual SIM LG Optimus L7 II, which should be officially introduced later this month, possibly at MWC 2013 in Barcelona.
