With all the Android smartphones unveiled lately, you’d think that Samsung forgot about its featurephones. Well, no, not really. Today, the company has announced no less than four new and affordable touchscreen featurephones in India. They are: Samsung Rex 90, Samsung Rex 80, Samsung Rex 70, and Samsung Rex 60.
The Rex 90 is the most expensive among the new devices, costing 6,490 INR (about $120). Its features include a 3.5 inch HVGA display, TouchWiz UI, Smart Dual SIM with Hot Swap, Wi-Fi, Facebook and Twitter integration, ChatOn, 3.2MP rear camera, MicroSD card support, and a battery that can provide a talk-time of up to 15 hours.
The Rex 80 has similar features, but its display is smaller, being a 3 inch QVGA one. Next, the Rex 70 also has a 3 inch QVGA screen, but it lacks Wi-Fi, and its camera is a 2MP one. Finally, the Rex 60 comes with a 2.5 inch QVGA display, and a 1.3MP rear camera. The 60 is the cheapest of the Rex series, as it’s priced at 4,280 INR (about $80).
All Rex phones are offered with 10 free Gameloft games, and none of them has 3G connectivity.
It’s not clear if these new handsets will be released in other countries. Probably yes, but under different names. We will let you know anyway.
