Samsung Galaxy S II Plus compared to Galaxy S III Mini

Samsung has announced quite a few Galaxy Android smartphones lately, and customers might get confused when wanting to decide which one to choose – especially when we’re talking about similarly-priced devices.

Two of the handsets that might cause confusion are the Galaxy S III Mini i8190 (released in November 2012) and the Galaxy S II Plus i9105 (launched earlier this month).

The price difference between the two (at least in Europe) is of €45 ($60). The newer S II Plus is more expensive, costing €325 at Amazon Germany, while the S III Mini is offered for €280.

Both smartphones run Android Jelly Bean, and aren’t too different feature-wise. The Galaxy S II Plus comes with a 4.3 inch WVGA Super AMOLED Plus display, 8MP rear camera with 1080p video recording, 2MP front-facing camera, dual-core 1.2 GHz Broadcom processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal memory. The Galaxy S III Mini sports a 4 inch WVGA Super AMOLED display, offering a 5MP rear camera with 720p video recording, VGA front-facing camera, dual-core 1GHz ST-Ericsson NovaThor processor, 1GB of RAM, and the same amount of internal memory (8GB).

ePrice China has managed to compare the two devices, and it turns out the S II Plus is (unsurprisingly) superior to the S III Mini. The new S II has a better build quality, its AMOLED Plus display shows richer colors, and its Broadcom CPU allows it to perform significantly better in benchmark tests.

Sure enough, the S III Mini is a pretty good device itself. But, if you can afford an extra €45, the S II Plus if obviously a better choice.
