Sony Xperia SP to have 4.6″ 720p screen, 8 MP camera
The much-leaked Sony C530x codenamed HuaShan is probably about to be unveiled as the Xperia SP at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in a few days. This smartphone is going to sit in Sony’s portfolio right below the flagship Xperia Z and Xperia ZL, at least for the time being. So you may have gathered that it will be an upper-midrange offering.
Previously leaked information about the SP said its processor will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core part (the MSM8960T), clocked at 1.7 GHz and coming with Adreno 320 graphics. It’s also supposed to come with a 720p HD touchscreen.
New details about the Sony Xperia SP have been made available by a supposedly trustworthy source to Xperia Blog. The device’s screen size is apparently going to be 4.6 inches, and it will be constructed using an aluminium frame for the sides. The back will be plastic though. It will come with an 8 MP Exmor camera, 8 GB of built-in storage, as well as a microSD card slot for expansion. It will have a transparent notification bar which will be customizable to certain notifications, whatever that may mean.
The Xperia SP is going to weigh a pretty hefty 155 grams, and its dimensions will be 130.6×67.1×9.98 mm. That will make it just a tad shorter and narrower than the Xperia ZL, while also being a tiny bit thicker.
All in all it looks like a reasonably solid upper-midranger, now let’s see it get official.
