Samsung Galaxy Xcover 2 launched in Europe
Although it was supposed to be released in the UK “by March”, the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 2 (model number S7710) isn’t available there yet. In fact, you can’t really find it in Europe, unless you are in Finland, where the handset was launched yesterday.
The Galaxy Xcover 2 is offered unlocked by Finish retailer Gigantti, and costs €320 (about $418).
In the UK, its price will be similar – around £270 (€314). The new handset should arrive there (as well as in other European markets) pretty soon.
Officially announced back in January, the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 2 is IP67 certified, being dustproof and waterproof. It runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, featuring a 4 inch WVGA display protected by Dragontrail glass, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS with Glonass, HSPA (up to 14.4Mbps), Bluetooth 4.0, Music Player with SoundAlive technology, 3.5mm headset jack, Cardio Trainer Pro workout app, 5MP rear camera with LED flash and dedicated key, VGA front-facing camera, dual-core 1GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory, MicroSD card support (up to 32GB), and a 1,700 mAh battery.
All in all, the Galaxy Xcover 2 is a notably cheaper alternative to Sony’s Xperia Z (which is also waterproof, and runs Android Jelly Bean, but offers lots of high-end features).
