Sony Xperia J gets updated to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean

The Sony Xperia J is now receiving an update to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. This is the latest Sony handset to get this version of the operating system, following in the footsteps of the Xperia V, Xperia T, and Xperia TL.

It’s nice to see Sony working on updates for its smartphones, but let’s not forget that Android 4.2 Jelly Bean has been out for a few months now, yet the Japanese company is just getting started on updates to the previous version.

Anyway, if you own an Xperia J do expect to see this update pop up soon, if it hasn’t already. The rollout may be staggered. Still, if you have some time on your hands, start up the Sony PC Companion software and let it search for updates. It may just find the 11.2.A.0.21 version ready to download and install.

Next on Sony’s list for updates seems to be the Xperia TX, which will see the new bits in the next couple of weeks. After that, some other Sony smartphones will get to taste Jelly Bean for the first (and hopefully not last) time. We’ll keep you posted.
