Pantech Vega No. 6 launched outside Korea
Last month, when Pantech released its latest high-end smartphone (the Vega No. 6) in South Korea, the company didn’t say if the device would be available in other countries.
But now we know the new Vega isn’t a Korea-exclusive handset, as it’s been launched in Hong Kong. The Vega No. 6 costs 5,980 HKD (meaning around $770) there, so if it’s going to hit other markets we should expect to see a similar price.
Featuring a 5.9 inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixels, the Pantech Vega No. 6 is one of the largest smartphones ever. That aside, it comes with Android Jelly Bean, LTE connectivity, NFC, 2MP front-facing camera, a 13MP camera on the back, quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory (expandable via MicroSD), and a pretty large 3,140 mAh battery.

Recent rumors have pointed out that Samsung’s Galaxy Note III would sport a 5.9 inch display, too (not a 6.3 inch one, as previously reported). If that’s the case, the new Note III will compete directly with the Pantech Vega No. 6 for supremacy in the phablet market (at least where both devices will get to be released). Of course, it remains to be seen exactly when Samsung will introduce the Note III, because it might not happen too soon.
