Huawei Ascend Mate priced at €499 in Europe

The giant Huawei Ascend Mate – currently available only in China – is seemingly coming to Europe soon.

Amazon Germany has priced the Ascend Mate at €499 ($649) – which is higher than the handset’s price if you’re buying it from China ($575).

The retailer doesn’t say when the Mate will be in stock.

German website Inside-handy reports that it might not happen before July – but that would be very late, and Samsung will probably launch its new Galaxy Note III by then.

Since it sports a 6.1 inch IPS+ display (with 1280 x 720 pixels), the Huawei Ascend Mate is one of the largest smartphones ever made – it should be larger than the Note III, too, as this is rumored to have a 5.9 inch screen. That aside, the device features Android Jelly Bean, Huawei Emotion UI, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, HSPA, Bluetooth 4.0, 8MP rear camera with 1080p video recording, 1MP front-facing camera, 4,050 mAh battery, 32GB of internal memory, 2GB of RAM, and a quad-core 1.5GHz K3V2 processor manufactured in-house by Huawei.

The Ascend Mate has two official color versions (white and black), but only the white one is listed by Amazon.  At the moment, we don’t know when (or if) the smartphone will be available for purchase in other European markets.
