A yet-unseen Motorola handset has been leaked in Vietnam today. We have hands-on pictures, as well as a video (which you can see at the source link) showcasing the Motorola XT912A. There’s something strange about that purported model number, though. Take away the “A” and what you’re left with is the model number for the Motorola Droid RAZR for Verizon (the original one, not the Droid RAZR HD). But this looks completely different, and it has better specs too. Would one letter in a model number make such a difference? No one knows at this point.
The device you can see today has a 4.65-inch 720p touchscreen with 320 ppi pixel density, and a Qualcomm processor that comes with an Adreno 320 GPU. That’s going to be either a dual-core or a quad-core part, clocked at up to 1.7 GHz. The phone also has 2 GB of RAM and a 2,200 mAh battery. It has a non-removable back cover.
One might jump to conclusions and scream “X Phone!”, but one would be wrong. Previous rumors have always talked about that particular device coming with a 1080p Full HD touchscreen. So this is probably not it. What it is then is an upper-midrange offering that may find its place in Moto’s portfolio right underneath the X Phone. The XT912A, or whatever it will end up being called, could be unveiled during Google I/O in May alongside the X, or we may see it at a later date. We’ll keep you posted of course.
