Verizon’s HTC One may be launching in March, replacing the Droid DNA
The HTC One may be coming to Verizon a lot sooner than we expected. Just yesterday we told you that the One would make it to Big Red eventually, but it may do so with a delay of one to two months compared to when it would arrive at the other three big carriers in the US. So with those expecting to launch the device at the end of this month, the best case scenario would have the One at Verizon in late April, while in the worst case that could have turned into late May.
Today though a screengrab supposedly showing a document from Walmart contradicts all that. The mega-retailer expects to have the HTC One in stock in March. Furthermore, the HTC One is apparently set to replace the Droid DNA in the carrier’s lineup. That obviously makes some sense, since the One and the DNA are incredibly similar, and having both on sale could prove confusing to consumers.
But we have to believe this document. Or that it’s real. Even if it is, it might be old. Old enough for Walmart to be entitled to think that the One would arrive at all carriers around the same time.
Then again – if the HTC One is coming to Verizon on the same schedule as the other carriers, why wasn’t Big Red mentioned as a partner in the US back at the official launch of the phone? For the US, we only got AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint at that point. It’s all a mystery right now, but hopefully things will clear up in the following days and weeks.
