Sony Xperia Tablet Z launching in the UK next month, prices start at £399

Expected to become available in Japan later this week, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z is also going to be released globally – as Sony announced last month during MWC 2013.

In the UK, it looks like the new tablet will be launched starting mid-April.

Sony Store UK is taking pre-orders for the Xperia Tablet Z, asking £399 for the 16GB Wi-Fi-only version (model number SGP311), and £449 for the 32GB Wi-Fi-only version (model number SGP312).

A 16GB LTE edition (SGP321) is also listed, but pre-orders for it are not open yet, and its price hasn’t been mentioned – it will probably be at least £500 anywyay.

Like the Xperia Z smartphone (which can be already purchased in various markets, including the UK), the Xperia Tablet Z is a waterproof device. This of course, isn’t the only thing that’s worth mentioning, as the tablet offers lots of high-end features, including a 10.1 inch Reality Display with 1920 x 1200 pixels, dual-band Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, stereo speakers with 3D surround sound, 8MP rear camera with HDR and 1080p video recording, 2.2MP front-facing camera, 2GB of RAM, quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU, and MicroSD card support. The tablet measures 266 x 172 x 6.9 mm, weighs 495 grams, and comes with a 6,000 mAh Li-Po battery.
