Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 and Asus Fonepad possibly launching in the UK next month

Officially announced by Samsung last month at MWC 2013, the Galaxy Note 8.0 is seemingly going to be available in the UK starting April. At least that’s what Carphone Warehouse suggests.

CPW does not say how much it will charge for the Note 8.0. However, Handtec (another British retailer) has priced the tablet at £371.99 (about $564) – and it’ll probably have it in stock starting April as well.

The Galaxy Note 8.0 is seen by many as Samsung’s direct response to Apple’s similarly-sized iPad Mini (which has a 7.9 inch display). Its features include Android 4.1 Jelly Bean (upgradeable to Android 5.0), an 8 inch TFT screen with 1280 x 800 pixels, S Pen, quad-core 1.6GHz Exynos 4412 processor, 5MP rear camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, MicroSD card slot, and a 4,600 mAh battery. The version listed by Carphone Warehouse doesn’t seem to have LTE connectivity.

Another new tablet that’s scheduled to be released in the UK next month is the Asus Fonepad – this although we first heard it would arrive there in late Q2.

Asus Fonepad UK launch April

As with the Galaxy Note 8.0, Carphone Warehouse is the retailer that expects to sell the Asus Fonepad in the UK starting April (for an unknown price). The Fonepad comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, a 7 inch display (1280 x 800 pixels), phone capabilities, 3.2MP rear camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera, 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z2420 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB / 16GB of internal memory, MicroSD card support, and a 4,270 mAh battery.
