Sony Xperia A, Xperia UL leaked for Japan. 6.4″ device in the works too
At this rate, Sony is going to run out of letters in the alphabet pretty soon. And two-letter combinations will only take it so far after that.
The Japanese giant is prepping even more Android-powered smartphones for the near future. This time, it’s the Xperia A and the Xperia UL that have had their details leaked. Both will be headed to Japan, at least at first.
The Sony Xperia A is codenamed Dogo and will have the model number SO-04E when it will be launched by NTT DoCoMo. It should be out sometime during the summer and will come with a 4.6-inch touchscreen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage space, an infrared blaster, mobile wallet support (so NFC?), and a 2,300 mAh battery. It will be water and dust proof.
Variants of the Xperia A will be out in other parts of the world too, but it’s unclear how many of the specs will remain intact.
Then we have the Sony Xperia UL, codenamed Gaga (yes, really), model number SOL22, which will be launched by KDDI. This will come with a 5-inch 1080p Full HD touchscreen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage space, and a removable 2,300 mAh battery. Sony hasn’t put a removable battery inside a high-end device in quite a while, so this is really something. The Xperia UL will also have support for mobile TV, mobile wallet, an IR port, and it will be water and dust proof as well.
The Xperia UL will be out in the summer, and its design will be similar to that of the Xperia ZL.
Finally, a 6.4-inch device, codenamed Togari, may also come to market via NTT DoCoMo. That’s not a certainty at this point though, as it’s still being “paraded around” and whether or not it will actually be released remains to be seen. As may be obvious, we can’t tell if this will make it to non-Japan either. But stay tuned and we’ll bring you any future news about it and the new Xperias.
