AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy S4 will be yours for $249.99. Pre-orders start on April 16

AT&T has just announced that it will start taking pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S4 on April 16. Additionally, the carrier has also unveiled its pricing for Samsung’s new flagship device: $249.99 with a new two-year contract. Unfortunately though, AT&T has stayed mum on the actual release date for the highly anticipated device.

This comes after word got out a couple of days ago that T-Mobile’s version of the Galaxy S4 will be out on May 1. Sprint and Verizon have yet to announce any plans regarding the new Samsung superphone.

Interestingly, AT&T has priced the Galaxy S4 $50 above the Galaxy S III price. And $50 above the iPhone 5. Does this mean that Samsung and its Galaxy S line have finally jumped the shark? Or is it just AT&T trying desperately to capitalize on the Korean company’s momentum and make a bit more money from selling this device? You be the judge.

If your carrier of choice is either Sprint or Verizon, do expect to hear something about the Samsung Galaxy S4 in the next few days. Now that their competitors have put out announcements on the matter, those two can’t afford to be left behind in terms of buzz.

How would pricing it above the S3 and the iPhone 5 in any way indicate that the Galaxy line has jumped the shark?
