New 8 inch Full HD Samsung Galaxy tablet coming to take on iPad Mini 2?
Samsung has already announced an 8 inch tablet – the Galaxy Note 8.0 – but that sports a classic 1280 x 800 screen resolution, which means it’s not exactly on par with Apple’s upcoming iPad Mini (this should have a 7.9 inch Retina Display – 2048 x 1536 pixels).
But what if Samsung had a Full HD 8 inch tablet? Well, it looks like it will.
According to Sam Mobile, the South Korean company is working on an 8 inch AMOLED display with 1920 x 1200 pixels. This will be used in a tablet that should officially debut at IFA 2013 in Berlin – becoming only the second Samsung tablet to have an AMOLED screen (after the Galaxy Tab 7.7). There are no other details on the new tablet’s features for now, but we should expect it to have Android 4.2 Jelly Bean (or maybe 5.0 Key Lime Pie), and at least a quad-core processor.
(this is just a mock-up)
The new 8 inch Full HD Galaxy tablet will compete not only with Apple’s iPad Mini 2, but also with Google’s second-generation Nexus 7.
IFA 2013 is also the place when Samsung could introduce the Galaxy Note III, and the Galaxy Tab 3 Plus – both of which should have high-resolution displays: 1920 x 1080 pixels for the Note III, and 2560 x 1600 pixels for the 10 inch Tab 3 Plus.
