No.1 Mini Pad is an iPad Mini clone with decent specs for just $161
Ladies and gentlemen, meet the No.1 Mini Pad! And what is it, you ask? Well, an iPad Mini clone from China of course. That should be pretty obvious from the name.
Now Chinese clones of mobile devices do look a lot like the originals, but they’re generally underpowered – greatly so. That’s not necessarily true in this case. The No.1 Mini Pad uses a quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor, so it’s certainly not lacking in that regard. The tablet also has an 8 MP rear camera, a 2 MP front camera, 2 GB of RAM, as well as 3G connectivity (phone functionality included) and GPS. There’s even a 5,000 mAh battery in there, but strangely the clone is smaller than the original – the No.1 Mini Pad has ‘just’ a 7-inch touchscreen.
The most important detail about the No.1 Mini Pad is its price. The device goes for 999 yuan, which amounts to little more than $161 or €125 at the current exchange rates. At that price, it’s easy to see how this could be a great choice for many, perhaps even in spite of the fact that it’s a clone. With a different design, this would have been one tablet to take very seriously. And who knows, it might even have made it outside of China.
