Verizon LG Lucid 2 officially announced, arrives on April 4 for free
Verizon and LG have just announced the Lucid 2, which effectively is Big Red’s version of the LG Optimus F5 that was unveiled in February. This, of course, fits perfectly with what we’ve told you about a month ago, when the Lucid 2 was still unannounced.
The LG Lucid 2 will be available online at Verizon starting on April 4 (which is this Thursday), and in physical stores “in the coming weeks”. It will be free if you sign a new two-year contract with the carrier, and it’s got some decent specs too.
Obviously the Lucid 2 isn’t a high-end offering, but things offered for free by a carrier are usually much lower-end. The Lucid 2 comes with a 4.3-inch 540×960 AH-IPS touchscreen, a 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, a 5 MP rear camera, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of built-in storage, a microSD card slot, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, wireless charging (with separately sold special battery cover), and a 2,460 mAh battery. It runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
It’s refreshing to see such a high capacity battery in a midranger. The LG Lucid 2 will certainly appeal to those who don’t necessarily crave the latest and greatest in terms of specs, while still being a very decent performer. Oh, and did we mention it will be free?
