Huawei Ascend W2 specs possibly leaked – 4.3″ HD screen, 1.5 GHz dual-core CPU, 8 MP camera, WP8
Huawei apparently isn’t happy with just one Windows Phone on the market. The Chinese company launched the Ascend W1 in January as its first ever handset running Microsoft’s latest mobile effort. The Ascend W1 is not a flagship offering, though. It’s low-end and its main claim to fame is how cheap it is considering what’s inside.
That fits with the image that Huawei has had in the ‘developed world’ for a while now, that of maker of cheap wares. But the company’s been determined to change that recently, first through such Android high-end phones as the Ascend D1 and D2, and now, it seems, also through its next Windows Phone.
This will be the Ascend W2. We’ve heard some things about it so far this year, but today’s purported leak comes with a pretty full spec list. And it means the W2 will be no slouch.
The device should have a 4.3-inch 720p HD IPS touchscreen, a dual-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, an 8 MP rear camera with LED flash and 1080p video recording, 1 GB of RAM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, HSPA+, and a 2,000 mAh battery.
There are some strange things to be found at the source of this rumor, so do have a pinch of salt nearby while you consider it. The release date is apparently listed as November 15, 2012. That’s obviously long gone and no W2. There are also no details about how much internal storage it has, nor if a microSD card slot is in there.
The ‘starting price’ seems to be $289, which is incredibly cheap considering those specs. Then again, this could all be someone’s hyperactive imagination at work. If the W2 is real indeed, and if it will come in the following months, then do expect a lot more leaks about it to pop up.
