Motorola X phone delayed?
The X is supposed to be the one phone (or series of phones according to some past rumors) to reinvent Motorola. It should encompass Google’s influence over its smartphone making division, and bring us unicorns and everything else that’s nice and sweet. Or something like that.
And we’ve been hearing about the Motorola X for quite a while now, though many things have been contradictory. The general feeling though seemed to be that it would get an unveiling next month at Google’s annual developer conference, I/O, with actual release coming around July.
But that’s not so, according to the latest rumor on the matter, this time coming from Phone Arena (and, specifically, its sources). Apparently the X phone will be out on the streets in August at the earliest. Though it could come even later. Why this delay has occurred is still unknown. If it’s even a delay – this might just be when Google intended to launch it from day one, and all the other rumors we’ve heard could have been wrong.
Regardless, if the Motorola X will be out in August or September, announcing it in mid-May makes absolutely no sense, and brings us bad memories from the days when Nokia was king of the hill and it unveiled new smartphones many months before they went on sale. So let’s hope Google won’t be channeling that.
The X phone is supposedly still in ‘early prototype’ phase. It has a 4.7-inch 1080p Full HD touchscreen and very narrow bezels.
