ZTE Director becomes available at US Cellular, Android-packing for cheap
Remember Sprint’s ZTE Fury? It was launched by the Now Network last year as a very affordable entry-level Android smartphone. And now a relative of the Fury has made its way to US Cellular.
It’s called the ZTE Director. It’s available now and can be yours for $0.01 with a new two-year contract (and a smartphone data plan, and a $35 activation fee).
The Director has many things in common with the Fury. It’s got similar looks, and the specs are pretty much in the same ballpark. The ZTE Director has a 3.5-inch 320×480 touchscreen, a 3 MP rear camera, a 1 GHz single-core processor, 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of built-in storage, a microSD card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, and a 1,500 mAh battery. It runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich unfortunately, but that version is pretty much a given nowadays for low-end offerings.
So this clearly won’t be for smartphone enthusiasts then. Perhaps it’s a good choice though for those who’ve used only featurephones before, and it also may be fitting as a second device for someone with another, more powerful handset. If you’d like to purchase a Director, just head straight to US Cellular right now.
