New waterproof Sony Xperia ZR in the making?
Having sold more than 4 million Xperia Z units until now, Sony is probably realizing that high-end waterproof handsets can mean good business. That’s why it may want to try and bring another similar device on the market.
Xperia Blog reports that Sony is going to launch a smartphone called Xperia ZR in the near future. Apparently codenamed Dogo, the Xperia ZR has the model number C550X. It should be smaller than the Xperia Z, sporting a 4.6 inch display with 1280 x 720 pixels.
Unlike the Xperia Z, the ZR seems to be IP58-certified, which means it can be immersed into water beyond 1 meter for at least 30 minutes. Other features reportedly include a 13MP rear camera, quad-core Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, MicroSD card slot, and a 2,300 mAh battery.
It’s said that the ZR resembles the Xperia ZL when it comes to design. There are no images of the new handset for the moment (pictured above is the Xperia Z).
