Waterproof Samsung Galaxy S4 called “Active”, should be launched alongside the S4 Mini in July
The rugged version of Samsung’s Galaxy S4 that we told you about a few days ago is indeed in the making, and it might hit the shelves starting July. At least that’s what The Wall Street Journal is reporting, noting that the handset is “tentatively called” Galaxy S4 Active.
The S4 Active will be waterproof and dustproof, and should “maintain the look and feel of the S4.”
The WSJ says that a compact version of the S4 is also scheduled for a July launch. This, of course, is none other than the Galaxy S4 Mini that we told you about several times until now.
Meanwhile, the regular Galaxy S4 (seen above) went on sale in a few countries today, including South Korea, China and Russia. It will be available globally starting the next few days, with the US and the UK being among the next markets to get it.
Before releasing the Galaxy S4 Active and Galaxy S4 Mini, Samsung plans to introduce a new 8 inch tablet – sometime in June. This will probably be called Galaxy Tab 3 8.0.
Samsung sold around 70 million (mostly Android) smartphones in the first quarter of 2013.
