6.18 mm Huawei P6-U06 leaks on its way to becoming the world’s thinnest smartphone
Last week, the Oppo R809T became official, but failed to impress in the slimness category. Previously, we had been led to believe that it would become the new holder of the ‘world’s thinnest smartphone’ crown, but it didn’t. That award still goes to Alcatel’s One Touch Idol Ultra. But things may change pretty soon.
Huawei has been caught working on a device that’s even thinner than that. The Huawei P6-U06 is just 6.18 thick. That makes it 0.27 mm slimmer than the Alcatel, and, if no even thinner handset gets announced before it, will make it the world’s slimmest smartphone.
P6-U06 is its model number, but the handset may be launched with an easier to remember moniker. Ascend P6 perhaps? Regardless, we should hear more about this phone soon, because it’s just been certified for sale in China by the relevant authorities (which are where this leak comes from, by the way). So Huawei will probably make it official in the next few weeks.
Spec-wise, the Huawei P6-U06 is an upper-midrange offering. It has a 4.7-inch 720p HD touchscreen, a 5 MP rear camera, a quad-core 1.5 GHz processor (possibly Huawei’s own K3V2 used so far on many other models), 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, dual-SIM support, and it runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
Whether or not this handset or a version of it will ever make it outside of China remains to be seen.
