6.18 mm Huawei P6-U06 gets caught in the wild, still wants to become the world’s thinnest smartphone
If it will ever get official, and if no other device manages to somehow leapfrog it in the meantime, the Huawei P6-U06 is going to be the next holder of the “world’s thinnest smartphone” title. The handset will hopefully be called something more memorable when it gets ready for release, Ascend P6 perhaps?
We first spotted this new Huawei device early last week, when it got itself certified by the Chinese TENAA (that country’s equivalent to the USA’s FCC). Back then we saw it pictured from all angles, but in a controlled environment. This time, on the other hand, we get to see it in the wild in the first live images depicting it.
These were sent to French site NoWhereElse, and while the source isn’t a long time collaborator, the images do look legit. Even without the back of the handset shown, this clearly is one and the same with the P6-U06 that was leaked last week – at least in terms of looks.
The Huawei P6-U06 is just 6.18 mm thin, it weighs 120 grams, runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, and has a 4.7-inch 720p HD touchscreen, a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage space, and a 5 MP camera. Let’s hope it gets announced soon.
