Alcatel One Touch Idol Ultra now available in Asia as the world’s slimmest smartphone
It finally happened. A new device is officially holding the title of the world’s thinnest smartphone. It’s the Alcatel One Touch Idol Ultra with its 6.45 mm slim frame, and now it’s actually become available to buy. Exactly four months after its announcement at CES in January.
That said, you only have reason to celebrate if you’re in Asia, more specifically in “select markets”. That’s where you’ll be able to find the One Touch Idol Ultra lurking, just waiting to be yours for the rough equivalent of €265 or $349. Obviously we’re talking about getting the phone in an unlocked state for this amount of dough. Which, by the way, isn’t that much considering you are purchasing a world record holder. At least for now, that is. Until the upcoming Huawei P6 steals the Alcatel’s crown.
The Alcatel One Touch Idol Ultra comes with 4.7-inch 720p HD AMOLED touchscreen, an 8 MP rear camera with 1080p Full HD video recording, a 1.3 MP front camera, a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, and 1 GB of RAM. It runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
So it’s certainly not up to par with the latest flagship offerings, but rather in terms of specs the One Touch Idol Ultra is more of a decent midranger in this day and age. And its slimness is clearly its most important feature.
