Incredibly cheap Nokia Lumia 521 lands at T-Mobile on May 22
T-Mobile has finally decided to make the launch details for the Nokia Lumia 521 public. The magenta un-carrier’s strangely renamed version of Nokia’s cheapest Windows Phone 8 device to date will be in its stores nationwide on May 22.
If you want to buy a Lumia 521 from the carrier itself, you’ll need to pay $29 upfront, followed by 24 monthly payments of $5. This has to be one of, if not the most affordable smartphone T-Mobile has launched since letting go of ‘normal’ two-year contracts.
But wait. You can also purchase the Nokia Lumia 521 outright, in which case you’ll need to shell out $149. That’s $149 unsubsidized. Without the need to sign a long-term contract. Effectively you can use T-Mobile’s services and leave at any time you wish. There aren’t many (if any) decent smartphones at this price point in the US of A, so if Windows Phone is your thing and you don’t mind a low-end offering, go for the 521.
If you want to get T-Mobile’s Nokia Lumia 521 faster, you can buy one at Walmart or in Microsoft stores starting on May 11. Amazingly, at Walmart you’ll be able to pick one up for just $129.88, while Microsoft sticks to the official $149 pricing already mentioned above.
