HTC T6 phablet on the way
HTC appears to have finally caught on to the whole phablet trend, and is reportedly hard at work developing one such device that will be launched sometime in the near future. The handset’s codename is T6, and it will come in multiple radio configurations for multiple types of network support. This indicates the fact that HTC is going to release the T6 in as many countries as possible, and that the device will be offered by many different carriers.
The T6 will have one GSM+WCDMA(HSPA) configuration, two that add in LTE support (to account for different bands, most likely), and two that add to that compatibility with CDMA2000 3G networks such as the ones operated by Verizon and Sprint in the USA, or China Telecom.
Unfortunately this is pretty much everything we know about the HTC T6 so far. Obviously, for this to be worthy of the ‘phablet’ title, it should come with a screen that’s larger than 5″ – maybe even stretching close to 6″ territory. If you’re thinking that the “6″ in “T6″ could be indicative of screen size, do consider that the codename for the 4.7-inch HTC One was M7. So let’s not read too much into what is merely a codename.
We’ll let you know when we find out more about the HTC T6. It’s good to see that HTC is intent on finally jumping on the phablet bandwagon. So 2013 might indeed be the year during which the Taiwanese company makes the first steps towards a recovery. But it’s still too early to tell.
