Amazon Kindles priced cheaply in China. Kindle Fire HD will go for $225-240, Kindle Paperwhite Wi-Fi for $138

We already knew that Amazon is almost ready to storm the Android tablet strongholds all around the world with its Kindle Fire tablets. They will become available in 170 countries around the world in about two weeks.

What we didn’t know yet, was how Amazon will go about it. And will Amazon will be able to keep Kindle prices as low as in the U.S. now, that global distribution issues and costs are involved. Well, know we now. And apparently they will. Chinese site Sina.com says they have learned about Amazon device prices in China, and they are still amazingly low.

According to Sina, Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Wi-Fi will cost 849 Yuan (US$ 138), while Kindle Fire HD will retail for somewhere between 1400 to 1500 Yuan (US$ 228-244). They didn’t say which version – 7” or 8.9” – will go for this price. But my guess is – it’s the smaller one.

KIndle Fire Paperwhite stands in China

Kindle devices have already received Chinese Ministry of Information certification and are almost ready to go on sale.

For distribution in China, Amazon is not sticking just to the online sales channels. They have secured an exclusive deal with Suning Tesco to sell Kindles and Chinese retailer is already busy setting up Kindle promotion and sales stands in its malls (pictured above).
