Android 4.3 for HTC One Nexus Edition coming in July?
Google and HTC have unveiled the HTC One “with Nexus Experience” yesterday, saying it will be launched next month, running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. “Subsequent software updates provided by Google” have been promised, and it looks like the first update will be available very soon after the handset’s launch.
Trustworthy HTC ROM developer LlabTooFeR has it that the One Nexus Edition will get Android 4.3 “a few weeks after release.” Since the smartphone is going on sale starting June 26 in the US, this likely means Android 4.3 will be rolled-out sometime in July.
Sure enough, Google hasn’t confirmed the existence of Android 4.3 – which is probably still called Jelly Bean – but we’re all expecting it to do it soon.
The HTC One with Nexus Experience will cost $599 (unlocked, of course). Assuming it’s getting Android 4.3 in July, other smartphones – including the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition – should also receive the update that month. We’ll bring more on this as we get it.
