New 12 inch Samsung Galaxy Tab coming in Q3?

Samsung has already announced four tablets this year: Galaxy Note 8.0, Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, and Galaxy Tab 3 10.1. And the fifth one could be bigger than all of them.

According to Korean website ET News, Samsung intends to introduce a 12.2 inch tablet sometime in the third quarter of this year – thus in September the latest. There is no word on what name the tablet will have, but it’s almost certainly going to be included in the Galaxy family. In any case, it’s said the device’s 12.2 inch display has a 2,560 x 1,600 pixel resolution. Moreover, the Korean publication says it will come with an S-Pen Stylus – like the Galaxy Note 10.1 and Galaxy Note 8.0.

This 12.2 inch Samsung tablet could be the rumored Galaxy Tab3 Plus. However, we’ve heard that the latter would sport a 10.1 inch display – this detail, of course, might not be true, so we can’t be sure of anything until official details arrive.

The recently unveiled Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 and Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 both use Atom processors, so it will be interesting to see if Samsung continues its collaboration with Intel for the upcoming 12.2 inch model.

Early next year, Apple might also introduce a giant tablet, possibly called iPad Maxi and featuring a 12.9 inch display. If Samsung indeed launches its 12.2 inch Galaxy this year, it will have enough time to sell many of them – with almost no other direct competitors on the market.

The 7 inch form factor is very portable, but 12.2 inches less so, but that doesn’t mean that people will not buy them. I’m sure they have researched this size to see how it will fare in the market. The more powerful they can make it will allow pricing in the $500 to $700 market. The will have to make it so people can install a good printer driver on it to compare to Windows. I’m sure they are also looking to make sure than the Office type program is more powerful so that People can buy one product, their 12 inch Samsung Android Tablet. I personally have 2 computer and 2 tablets, but I am retired and even then find it hard to get the time to use them all every day. I would replace my Nexus 10 with this possible tablet. They will have to make it so powerful that Apple will have a hard time matching it. A Octal Core processor at 2 gig or more and 4 gig of ram should do just fine. Hopefully prices will be stable and the tablet resources improved. Probably 60% to 70% of users don’t need the power and complexity of Windows. The right Android Tablet could fit right in, maybe ever have a desktop device too. Making it easy to use is “Job #1”!!!
