Sony Xperia Z confirmed by T-Mobile USA, price not announced
The handset will be available exclusively at T-Mobile in the coming weeks, for a price that hasn’t been disclosed. Looking at T-Mo’s current range of Android smartphones – including the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One – I’d say the Xperia Z shouldn’t be offered for more than $99.99 upfront.
You can register for further details on the release of Xperia Z here at T-Mobile.
Available in other markets since February (with Japan being the first country to get it), the Xperia Z is a waterproof and dustproof handset that runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Its other features include a 5 inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) scratch-resistant display, LTE, NFC, 13MP rear camera with LED flash and Sony Exmor R sensor, 2.2MP front-facing camera, 2GB of RAM, quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor, 16GB of internal memory, MicroSD card support, and a 2,330 mAh battery. Sony may have sold around 5 million Xperia Z units around the world.
Later this week, on June 21, AT&T will also start selling a high-end waterproof Android smartphone – the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active (which will probably cost $199.99 on contract).
