Huawei Ascend P6 goes up for pre-order in the UK and Finland, it’s cheaper than expected
The Huawei Ascend P6 has only been official for around one day, yet it’s already up for pre-order in the UK. So if you live there and crave the world’s thinnest smartphone, you’re in luck. The Carphone Warehouse is now offering you the chance to be among the first Brits to fondle an Ascend P6 when it starts shipping on July 4.
The handset is being offered both with contracts from no less than five operators, as well as SIM-free. And in its SIM-free state, it’s cheaper than we expected it to be. See, Huawei’s ‘recommended retail price’ for Europe is €449. But you can pre-order one in the UK now for just £329.95, which only amounts to about €384 at today’s exchange rate. That’s still more than you’ll have to pay for the same phone in China (around €327), but it makes the Ascend P6 more affordable than first thought.
Furthermore, Finnish carrier Elisa is only asking for €359 for the Huawei Ascend P6, as it gets ready to start taking pre-orders too ahead of a mid-July release. So Huawei’s RRP is more like a ‘maximum price’ or something like that it seems. That’s good, obviously.
Anyway, back to the UK. If a 24-month contract is your thing, then you’ll get the Ascend P6 for free if you go with a plan that costs at least £21 per month. That cheapest option is available at Vodafone, and for that amount you get 100 minutes, unlimited texts, and 100 MB of mobile data each month. If you need more, you can go all the way up to £51 per month, for which Orange offers you 1200 minutes, unlimited texts, and 1 GB of data. That said, a better plan would cost just £42 per month and give you unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, and 3 GB of data each month. To make up your mind, hit up the Carphone Warehouse website.
