Sony Xperia ZL updated to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Xperia Z users still have to wait
Sony launched the Xperia Z in February, and the Xperia ZL a month later, both handsets running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. Naturally, the company said it would bring Android 4.2.2 to the two smartphones at some point. Surprisingly, the Xperia ZL is the first to get the update.
According to XperiaBlog, Sony has started rolling-out an official update for all three versions of the Xperia ZL: C6502 (HSPA) C6503 (LTE), and C6506 (for North America).
Sony didn’t say when Xperia L users should expect to get Android 4.2.2. However, since the update has started for the ZL, it might happen really soon.
The Xperia ZL and Xperia Z aren’t too different, but the latter is bigger, having a waterproof and dustproof construction.
Next month, Sony might introduce an Xperia Z Google Edition, which will obviously run stock Android (most probably 4.2.2). Until then, T-Mobile will likely start selling the regular edition of the handset in the US, as it has recently confirmed it’s going to carry it.
