New dual SIM Sony Xperia C, and Snapdragon 800 version of Xperia Z coming soon?
Sony is reportedly getting ready to announce a new dual SIM Android smartphone called Xperia C.
According to XperiaBlog, the handset could be announced tomorrow, at the same time with the 6.4 inch Xperia Z Ultra. The Xperia C should run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, featuring: a 5 inch qHD display, 8MP rear camera, 1.2GHz dual-core processor (possibly manufactured by MediaTek), 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory, and MicroSD card support.
If it’s indeed real, the Xperia C will certainly be Sony’s largest dual SIM handset. The company’s latest dual SIM smartphone is the Xperia M, which sports a 4 inch FWVGA display.
In related news, Russian insider Eldar Murtazin claims to have an upgraded version of Sony’s Xperia Z, which comes with a new Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor (instead of the APQ8064 Snapdragon S4 Pro found on the regular edition). He says the new Xperia Z prototype has an LCD3 display (like HTC’s One), but this will likely not make it into the commercial version.
There’s no word on when the improved Xperia Z is going to be unveiled, but maybe we’ll see it tomorrow.
It wouldn’t be the first time when Sony intros a slightly upgraded version of a flagship smartphone shortly after its initial release. Last year, it launched the Xperia S in February, and the Xperia SL (with a better CPU) in September.
