Sony Xperia Ion updated to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean

Last month, when Sony started rolling out official Jelly Bean updates for its Xperia S, Xperia SL and Xperia Acro S, it said that the Xperia Ion would follow shortly.

Now, according to Xperia Blog, the 4.1.2 update for the Ion is live – at least in some markets. I assume the update will be available to both the HSPA and the LTE version of the Ion (including the model released by AT&T in the US – LT28at). However, for the moment only the LT28 model is confirmed to get it.

It’s not clear if Sony will also bring Android 4.2.2 to the Xperia Ion. But we’ll let you know if we hear anything about this.

Launched in early 2012 as one of Sony’s flagship smartphones (running 2.3 Gingerbread back then), the Xperia Ion is still a nice device, featuring a 4.55 inch HD display, 12MP rear camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera, NFC, 1GB of RAM, and a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor.
