Sprint’s first Windows Phone 8 devices announced: Samsung Ativ S Neo, HTC 8XT

Sprint has just provided details on its first Windows Phone 8 handsets. These are the HTC 8XT (previously known as HTC Tiara), and the Samsung Ativ S Neo.

The 8XT is an upgraded version of the HTC 8X that’s been around since late 2012. it features LTE connectivity, Boomsound, 4.3 inch HVGA display, dual-core 1.4GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, 8MP rear camera, 1.6MP front-facing camera, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, MicroSD card support (up to 64GB), and a 1,800 mAh battery. The handset will cost $99.99 on contract (after a $50 mail-in rebate).

The Samsung Ativ S Neo is based on the international Ativ S, featuring a 4.8 inch HD screen, 1.4GHz dual-core processor, 8MP rear camera, 1.9MP front-facing camera, 1GB of RAM, MicroSD card support, and a 2,000 mAh battery. It’s going to be sold for $149.99 on contract (the $50 mail-in rebate still applies).

Unfortunately, Sprint can’t say exactly when the HTC 8XT and Samsung Ativ S Neo will be in stores. It’s going to happen “this summer” anyway.

“We know our customers are anxious to get their hands on these Windows Phone 8 smartphones, HTC 8XT and ATIV S Neo,” declared Fared Adib, senior vice president-Product Development, Sprint. “Without a doubt, they will rival any smartphone on the market today. Our customers will appreciate being able to use them all day, every day without worrying about overages or data caps.”
