Samsung Galaxy Memo might arrive as a mini Galaxy Note
Samsung may have been working on a new Android handset that takes the Galaxy Note concept and puts it into a smaller form factor – a 4.5 inch device. Reportedly, the new handset is called Samsung Galaxy Memo.
Sam Mobile has received images allegedly showing the Galaxy Memo, alongside some of its features: 4.5 inch Full HD screen (LCD, not Super AMOLED), Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, quad-core 1.4GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, and an 8MP rear camera. There is also an S Pen stylus.
(Update: the images are almost certainly fake)
Would such a handset make sense in the real world? Maybe. After all, when the first Galaxy Note was released (in 2011), many have said it would be a flop. And it certainly wasn’t.
Of course, both the images and the existence of a Galaxy Memo should have big question marks above them until more solid details arrive. But I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Galaxy Memo announced in the near future – even if it won’t look like the chunky thing we’re seeing above. Samsung has been trying all sorts of sizes and concepts lately, getting to launch a 6.3 inch phablet (the Galaxy Mega 6.3) that has no stylus – although it probably needs one more than the 5.5 inch Galaxy Note II, or the original 5.3 inch Note.
