New Samsung Cronus with Windows Phone 8 coming soon?
Samsung’s newest Windows Phone 8 handset – the Ativ S Neo – isn’t exactly new, as it’s just a tweaked Ativ S for Sprint.
Still, a completely new Samsung WP8 handset might be introduced sometime this year. Apparently called Samsung Cronus, the new smartphone has appeared in the description of Mobile Care – an official Samsung app that’s available through Windows Phone Store here.
The description says the app works only on the following devices: Samsung Cronus, Samsung Ativ S and Ativ Odyssey (for Verizon). The Ativ S and Ativ Odyssey first need to be updated to Windows Phone 8 GDR2 to be compatible with the app. Since GDR2 isn’t mentioned next to the Cronus, this will likely run the new version of the OS out of the box.
The name “Cronus” had previously appeared in a list of upcoming WP8 handsets published on Reddit. Apparently, the new smartphone features LTE connectivity – and that’s all we know about it for now.
Meanwhile, Samsung has reportedly shipped 20 million Android-based Galaxy S4 smartphones around the world. And its other Android smartphones and tablets are selling very well, too – so it’s understandable why the company doesn’t want to make too many handsets based on Windows Phone 8.
