Unlocked HTC Butterfly S available in the US. Red HTC One won’t be released just in the UK

Although HTC has officially launched the new Butterfly S smartphone only in South-East Asia, the handset can be ordered in the US now – thanks to some retailers.

Obviously, if you want to purchase the Butterfly S Stateside, you only have the option to get it unlocked.

As always in cases like these, the new HTC handset isn’t cheap at all. Overseas Electronics is asking a hefty $850 for the device, allowing you to choose between four color versions: black, white, grey, and red. Negri Electronics only wants $771.50 for an unlocked Butterfly S – but unfortunately doesn’t say when it can ship it.

Running Android Jelly Bean, the Butterfly S features a 5 inch Full HD display, quad-core 1.9GHz Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 4MP Ultrapixel camera.

Meanwhile, HTC’s other flagship Android Jelly Bean smartphone – the One – is coming in a new color version (red) in various markets across Europe – so the red edition isn’t UK-exclusive, as the press release announcing it may have led us to believe.

The red HTC One is showing up at HTC Germany, HTC France, and HTC Russia. In the UK, the handset should be available starting mid-July (hence next week), and we assume that other markets will get it at about the same time.
