Waterproof Sony Xperia Z launching in Canada this month (via Bell)

Only two days ahead of its debut via T-Mobile USA, Sony announced that the Xperia Z would be also available in Canada starting “later this month”.

Bell will be the only Canadian carrier to offer the Xperia Z, allowing customers to buy it in black, white, or purple.

The Xperia Z is one of the very few high-end waterproof smartphones introduced until now (Samsung’s Galaxy S4 Active being another one). It runs Android Jelly Bean, featuring: a 5 inch Full HD Reality Display, LTE and HSPA connectivity, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, 2GB of RAM, 13MP rear camera, 2.2MP front-facing camera, 16GB of expandable internal memory, MicroSD card support, and a 2,330 mAh battery.

Bell didn’t say how much its Xperia Z would cost, but it allows users to pre-register here for further details.

“With its amazing durability, Xperia Z raises the bar for superphones and Bell is proud to be the exclusive Canadian carrier of this innovative and much anticipated mobile device. Combined with the largest LTE network and Bell’s Mobile TV, which includes more than 30 news, entertainment and sports channels, Bell and Sony are making the mobile experience even better,” said Adel Bazerghi, Senior Vice President of Products at Bell Mobility.

Meanwhile, Sony has unveiled yet another waterproof Android Jelly Bean device – the 6.4 inch Xperia Z Ultra. However, this will not be available before September, and there’s no word if it’s going to be released in Canada.
