Red Nokia Lumia 1020 headed to AT&T
We already knew that Nokia’s new Lumia 1020 was going to be an AT&T exclusive in the US. However, at the official announcement of the smartphone a few days ago, only three colors were unveiled: black, white, and yellow.
That always seemed a bit odd, knowing that Nokia’s been pretty much in love with colors ever since joining the Windows Phone camp in 2011. The Finnish company has produced more colorful smartphones than any other manufacturer over the past couple of years, so confining its new flagship, the Lumia 1020, to just three hues didn’t make much sense from its perspective.
Well, it looks like there will be more color variations for the Nokia Lumia 1020 after all. Above you can see a red Lumia 1020 for AT&T, courtesy of the usually reliable @evleaks. Before you say “but this could be a Lumia 920″, note the different placement of the Nokia logo in the 1020 compared to the older handset.
There’s no release date (or even pre-order date) attached to this red Lumia 1020, but it’s safe to assume that we’ll see it in stores soon, if perhaps not on day one. Nokia may be wanting to use colors to keep the hype up for the Lumia 1020, akin to what Samsung’s been doing for a year or so: launch a flagship in a couple of colors, then gradually release new ones a few months apart, to drum up interest for the device again and again.
