ZTE Nubia Z5 Mini officially announced, it’s already available for purchase

The Nubia Z5 Mini that we told you about at the beginning of the month is a real device, and today it’s been officially unveiled by ZTE in China.

The handset isn’t as “mini” as you’d believe – and as is the Galaxy S4 Mini to the original S4. It’s only slightly smaller than the big 5 inch Nubia Z5, coming with a 4.7 inch display. However, there’s no Full HD goodness, as the screen offers a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution.

Running Android Jelly Bean (like its bigger brother), the ZTE Nubia Z5 Mini features 3G connectivity (including TD-SCDMA for China Mobile), a 13MP rear camera, 5MP front-facing camera, quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, MicroSD card support, and a 2,300 mAh battery.

The new smartphone (pictured below alongside several colored back plates) can be bought starting today – but only in China. It costs 1,888 CNY, meaning around $308.

There is no word if the Nubia Z5 Mini will be released in other markets.

In the near future, HTC will also launch a mini version of its current flagship Android smartphone – this is called HTC One Mini, and sports a 4.3 inch HD display. We’ll let you know when it’s announced.
