Samsung Galaxy Note II could be updated directly to Android 4.3. Note III LTE (SM-N9005) shows up at Picasa

Galaxy Note II owners are currently waiting for Samsung to roll out an official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for their device – but they probably shouldn’t.

According to Telstra, Australia’s largest mobile carrier, Samsung has decided to “globally to skip the 4.2.2 update for this device and will instead go to a newer version of Android. No schedule has been provided for this update.”

The next version of Android is almost certainly 4.3 (still Jelly Bean), so that’s what the Note II should receive. Needless to say, this is good news. Of course, it might turn out to be bad news if the Android 4.3 update won’t be released in the next few months. But let’s hope that won’t happen.

We don’t know if skipping Android 4.2.2 also applies to the Galaxy S III. But it certainly might. After all, Android 4.3 should be released by Google pretty soon.

Note II aside, we also have something related to the upcoming Galaxy Note III to share. Its alleged LTE version, model number SM-N9005, has been mentioned at Picasa recently, thanks to a photo seemingly taken with it. While this doesn’t really mean much, it’s another sign that the new Note is almost ready to be officially announced – it should happen in early September.

The Galaxy Note III could run Android 4.3 out of the box. Its rumored features include a 5.7 inch Full HD display, 3GB of RAM, and a new Exynos 5 Octa processor (although some versions will probably use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 chipset).

You’re getting an update to 4.3. What an anal retentive comment.

How is speaking the the truth from a users point of view anal retentive? Surely if small developers can cook up roms for the note 2 Samsung can make an official update to 4.2. The excuses they gave for holding out were lame and if you had any brain you can tell they were lying. Sorry you are easily fooled but Im not buying it the update to 4.3 will likely come after the note 3 is released and then they will make up more excuses. Anyone can see they held off on the update to 4.2 to boost sales on the s4. The little p.o.s. is all gimmicks and this is coming from a disgruntled note 2 user.
