HTC Desire 500 is the company’s newest Android Jelly Bean phone

HTC’s fourth Desire smartphone for this year – the Desire 500 – has been officially unveiled in Taiwan today. The handset comes after the Desire U, Desire 200, and Desire 600, being aimed at young users.

The Desire 500 runs Android Jelly Bean with Sense 5 UI and HTC BlinkFeed. It features a 4.3 inch WVGA display, HSDPA, NFC, optional dual SIM capabilities, Beats Audio, 8MP BSI rear camera with LED flash, 1.6MP BSI front-facing camera, 1GB of RAM, quad-core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 200 processor, only 4GB of internal memory, MicroSD card support, and a 1,800 mAh battery. The new Desire will be available in Taiwan starting August 1, exclusively via Taiwan Mobile. It’s going to cost 11,900 TWD, meaning about $399. That’s a bit pricy for what the handset has to offer.

HTC didn’t say if the Desire 500 will be released in other markets. But it probably will – at least in Asia.
