AT&T Nokia Lumia 1020 costs $269.99 at Amazon. Unlocked Lumia 920 now $385

Launched by AT&T last week for $299.99 on contract, the Nokia Lumia 1020 can be bought for slightly less if you’re getting it at Amazon. The retailer is asking $269.99 for the new Windows Phone 8 handset, offering all three colors that are also available at AT&T: black, white, and yellow. You can go here to choose any of them.

Of course, that’s not a significant price drop, and it may not help sales too much. Speaking of which, initial reports suggest that customers are unhappy about the high price of the 1020, thus sales are reportedly “modest” for now.

Yes, the 41MP PureView camera that’s inside the Lumia 1020 is the best you can get. But that doesn’t seen to be enough to justify such a high price.

As a reminder, the Nokia Lumia 1020 is exclusive to AT&T in the US.

Meanwhile, the older (but not that old) Nokia Lumia 920 can be bought unlocked from Amazon for just $389.99 – see here. At the same time, AT&T is selling the 920 for $99.99 on contract, or $474.99 without any agreement.

The Lumia 1020 is the best windows phone available. Too bad the exclusive agreement with AT&T killed it. Nokia should have released simultaneously for all major carriers.
