Pantech to take on LG’s G2 with its latest Vega LTE-A smartphone

The upcoming LG G2 isn’t just another high-end Android handset, as LG has designed it to be a bit different – including volume buttons on its back, just below the rear camera.

Pantech, one of LG’s Korean rivals, seems to like this idea, too.

Meet the Pantech Vega LTE-A (model number IM-A880S). This seems to have the power button and a touchpad on the back. Pantech is getting ready to announce the handset on August 6 – just one day before LG officially reveals the G2.

The new Vega will run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean at launch, featuring: a 5.7 inch Full HD display, LTE-Advanced connectivity (this was obvious from the name), 2GB of RAM, and a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.3GHz.

Apparently, the Vega LTE-A will be available only via SK Telecom for the beginning (in black and white). We don’t know if Pantech plans to sell the new handset outside South Korea.

This technology was used by pantech in Vega n6 earlier. So who is trying to copy this idea is a question to the author.
