Nokia Lumia 1020 lands in the UK on September 5
The Nokia Lumia 1020 went up for pre-order in the UK in SIM-free and unlocked form yesterday. We already reported on Unlocked Mobiles beginning pre-orders for the device, but that particular retailer didn’t attach a ‘ship date’ to its listing (other than the vague mention of the month of September).
The Lumia 1020 is due to be released in the UK on September 5. This information comes from another, even more well known British electronics retailer – Expansys. It has also started taking pre-orders for the cameraphone, and thankfully its listings for both the white and the black Lumia 1020 mention the September 5 date.
That said, you should know that Expansys is asking for £599.99 for the phone, which is £50.01 more than Unlocked Mobiles. Obviously at Expansys you get the advantage of knowing exactly when you’ll receive the smartphone to play with. Yet the launch is sure to happen within a few days at most at all retailers, so if you want to save some cash by all means pre-order from Unlocked Mobiles.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 brings PureView oversampling technology and a 41 MP camera sensor to the Windows Phone world. It has a 4.5-inch 1,280×768 touchscreen, a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of non-expandable internal storage, a Xenon flash for the rear camera as well as a LED light for videos, 1080p recording, a 1.2 MP front camera capable of 720p HD video, all the usual connectivity options, and a 2,000 mAh battery. It runs Windows Phone 8.
