Verizon Moto X to be launched on August 23, only a few days after the Droid Ultra
It’s no secret that the new Moto X smartphone will be available in the US starting late August. While carriers haven’t revealed any launch dates, it looks like (at least) Verizon will offer the Moto X on August 23. We initially heard about this in July, and now Android Central has uncovered a document that further confirms the date.
Of course, August 23 is only three days after two other new Motorola handsets – the Droid Ultra and Droid Ultra Maxx – will be launched by the largest US carrier.
Like the Droid Ultra, the Moto X (16GB version) should cost $199.99 on contract.
The Moto X does not come with the latest and greatest specs, and – curiously – neither with the latest version of Android (it runs 4.2.2 instead of 4.3). Still, almost everyone agrees that it’s a really nice handset. The novelties the Moto X brings include Touchless Control with an “always listening” feature that listens to your voice (and performs the tasks you asks), and on-screen notifications. The smartphone is also highly customizable, although it looks like Verizon will offer it only in black and white.
Yet another new Android handset that’s going to be available at Verizon this month is the HTC One, which could go on sale on August 15.
